Spiritual Direction
One quiet hour, each month.
Spiritual direction is a prayerful conversation, where the Lord is invited in, and we see what unfolds. We meet for an hour, once a month, usually on Zoom — sometimes in person if you are nearby in Pasadena. I listen. I ask questions. Together we notice where God is already at work in your life: in your prayer, in your relationships, in the part of your day that feels most ordinary and the part that feels most unsettled.
It is not therapy and it is not counseling. It is closer to having a steady companion for the inner life — someone who can help you attend with sensitivity to your desires, hopes, longings for God, doubts, fears, and other movements of the soul, both big and small, all the while trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
What the first session is like
Our first meeting is mostly introductory. We get to know each other; I explain how I work and answer any questions. If there is time, we enter into a short period of silence and listening together, so you get a sense of what direction with me looks like in practice.
After the first session, I ask new directees to commit to three meetings, so we can see whether the fit is good. There are no fixed milestones in spiritual direction — but I like to check in once a year and ask whether our work together is still helping you grow closer to God.
$100 per session
One hour, once a month. Zoom or in person in Pasadena.
I also hold some spots each year at a reduced rate or sliding scale. If cost is the thing standing between you and beginning, please write to me anyway.
