Retreats & The 19th Annotation Retreat
Longer journeys, made together.
The 19th Annotation Retreat
The 19th Annotation Retreat is a form of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius adapted for daily life — for people who cannot leave home for thirty days but feel drawn to the whole arc of the Exercises. The retreat unfolds slowly, over nine months, through daily prayer at home and a weekly hour of spiritual direction with me.
It is the most substantial work I offer. People come to it at turning points — a vocational question, a deepening hunger for prayer, a sense that something more is being asked. The Exercises are demanding and tender at once. They have a way of making the life of Christ feel quite close.
$50 per weekly session
One hour, once a week, over nine months.
As with direction, I hold some spots each year at a reduced rate or sliding scale. If cost is the thing standing between you and beginning, please write to me anyway.
Retreats & talks
I am available to lead retreats, days of prayer, and talks for parishes, communities, lay formation programs, and small groups. Most retreats I lead are rooted in the Ignatian tradition, though I also draw from the broader contemplative stream — Carmelite, Augustinian, Patristic — depending on the gathering.
Recent retreats have included Epiphany: An Ignatian Retreat for Children at Church of the Resurrection in Los Angeles; In the Garden with Jesus, an Easter retreat at St. James' Episcopal in South Pasadena; and a series of Lenten and Advent retreats with the Ignatian Spirituality Ministry at Holy Family Catholic Church in South Pasadena.
Stipend is negotiated case by case. Please write with the shape of what you are imagining, and we can begin from there.
